Louise Holt
Louise Holt founded her eponymous creative interior design studio in 2016 and has a reputation for creating elegant and modern interiors. She believes that great interior design can really enhance peoples feeling of living space.
When our clients bought The Rectory it had the bones of a beautiful family home but had a number of unsucecssful modernisations and lacked personality. Our brief was to create a wonderful family home - to add character and to create a contemporary but relaxed interior for the house where each room would have a distinct purpose to fit with the demands of family life.
The natural light in the room was beautiful. We created an elegant drawing room with a focus on a natural chalky palatte of materials and quiet considered pieces. We started the design with the architectural details of the room. We installed a new herringbone floor, elegant wall panelling, window shutters and fireplaces in keeping with the period of the property. We selected furniture and fabrics and lighting along with bespoke pieces we designed to create a scheme which felt calm, elegant and relaxed. We mixed the more contemporary furniture with vintage craftsmen. The dining room had original wall panelling which was sensitively repaired.A contemporary floor, which had been added by the previous owners, was removed and an antique block parquet floor laid in its place.
The interior design of the room was completeed with the selction of contemporary furniture, rugs and a sculptural chandelier. As a complete contrast to the Drawing Room, we wanted the the Family Room to have a more contemporary and relaxed feel - a space where the whole family could be together. We chose a strong palatte of colour to provide contrast, inspired by the art work selected for the room.
For the refurbishment of this town house in Notting Hill we drew on both Japanese and Scandinavian elements, employing a pared-back aesthetic with emphasis on materiality, clean lines and the cool tones of pale timber against dark metal work.
Raw functionality is combined with flawless craftsmanship, with subtle shifts in colour and texture between fabric, wood, glass, concrete and metal. Arresting bespoke pieces provide contrast, as well as bringing warmth and individuality.
Louise Holt‘s brief was to create a contemporary but relaxed interior for this stunning country family house. With a focus on strong sculptural designs balanced with natural materials, they commiissioned a series of bespoke pieces from galleries across Europe to complement our clients contemporary art collection.
